FAQs

How Do I check-in / What time is Check-In and Check-Out?

The cabin offers self check-in. Check in time is 3 pm. A door code will be sent to you on the morning of your arrival. Check-out is 11:00 am and the code will deactivate shortly after the check-out time.

Can I check-in early or check-out late?

We can try to accommodate your request. We do however need to provide adequate time for cleaning the cabin between guests.

Is there Wi-Fi?

Yes, we have Starlink internet. The network and password information can be found on the console table inside the front door. The cabin is located in a rural area and at times especially during inclement weather the signal can be slow or interrupted. Generally though, email, browsing or watching Netflix work without problem.

Where can I park my car?

If you have your own boat, we recommend parking at the public boat launch located at 1727 North Baptiste Lake Road. There is no fee for parking and you will be able to launch your motorboat, canoe or kayak from this location. The cabin is a 3 min boat ride (15 minute paddle by canoe/kayak) to/from boat launch and Blueberry Island. The local marina offers paid parking for customers.

Where can I rent a boat?

Our local marina, Baptiste Lake Marina offers motor boat and kayak rentals. You will need to phone or email ahead of your stay to book and arrange for the boat rental. The journey between the marina to the cabin is 2-1/2 Kilometers, and takes us less than 10 minutes in our little motorboat.

Other local businesses that offer Boat, Canoe and Kayak rental are listed below. You can arrange to have the boats delivered to the Public Boat Launch where you can park your vehicle for the duration of your stay.

What can we do at A-Frame on Baptiste?

We provide 1 canoe and 3 kayaks with adult sized PFDs for you to explore the lake. The shoreline is sandy and perfect for swimming. The lake offers excellent fishing and boating. There is also a hiking trail atop the island accessible from behind the cabin.

The village of Maynooth or the town of Bancroft are both a quick 20min drive with a variety of restaurants, shops, pharmacy, LCBO and Beer Store.

We offer some further suggestions under Things To Do.

Are bed linens and towels provided?

Yes, bed linens and towels are provided. Additional towels are provided for beach and water activities.

What shops are in town?

Bancroft offers 2 grocery stores, Foodland and No Frills, an LCBO, Shoppers Drug Mart and IDA Pharmacies, Canadian Tire, Home Hardware. The town also has a number of independent shops to explore.

Maynooth is a smaller community but is excellent for a Saturday morning if you’re looking to enjoy a coffee, brunch and browse of the general store and antique shops. There is also a pharmacy and LCBO in Maynooth.

Is the A-Frame suitable for children?

Whilst we will leave the discretion up to parents, we have listed the property as not suitable for children based on the following factors:

  • Lake access is direct from property and children require supervision to prevent drowning accidents

  • The landscape is terraced and rugged and could provide a tripping hazard, we ask all guests to navigate the property with caution

  • Portable crib is not provided

  • The space has not been child-proofed with gates at stairs, outlet covers etc.

With this said, we have had friends and family members join us for weekends at the cabin who have brought their young children with them.

Is the cabin Pet Friendly?

Sorry, we don’t allow pets!

Is the property available for events such as a small wedding/elopement or for commercial photoshoots?

Please email us to inquire.

Where is the nearest waste disposal site to dispose of my trash/recycling at the end of my stay?

The municipality of Hastings Highlands has a number of Waste Disposal sites. Hours and locations can be found here. We’ve also added the locations to the interactive map under the Things To Do section of our website.
